A Letter to the Blogger that Never Feels Good Enough
Dear Blogger that doesn’t think She’s Good Enough,
I don’t know why you don’t feel like you’re a good enough blogger. Maybe it’s because you’ve never shared this much of yourself with anyone, and now you are opening up on the internet. Maybe it’s because you don’t have near as many followers as the girls that are filling up your feeds. Or maybe it’s because you feel like no matter how much work you put into your blog, it never gets the recognition, readership or growth that you’d like it to. Is your work even helping anyone? You may wonder.
Well, I’m here to break that little negative #blogger mindset that we easily fall into, and let you know that you’ve already made it.
So you want to be a blogger? Well, if you have a channel through which you are sharing content regularly, you can call yourself one! You don’t need a certain number of views, likes or clicks to make your work as a blogger worth it.
Who are you blogging for? Find your why. This often determines your satisfaction with your work as a blogger. If you are blogging for yourself or to help others, that’s great! Share your little heart out on your blog, and do it when you feel like it. I believe you can’t help others until you’ve filled yourself up. So, if you’re creating content just to post a new picture on your feed without being passionate about what you’re posting, then chances are likely that it won’t inspire anyone else either. People connect to real, vulnerable content that makes them feel like you are saying what’s on their minds. Share your story honestly and others will be inspired by it too.
So the next time you get down on yourself about the value of your work, remember why you started.
You don’t need 500 people to read your blog or even five. Share it with a loved one or a person you think would enjoy your content. Your creativity and self-expression are surely enough to inspire them. Let’s not forget that appreciating your own work is an act of self-love.
You are a blogger, and that’s enough.
PS – If you’ve been blogging for awhile and just don’t feel like you’re as good as you used to be, take a break. Forcing yourself to create content for the sake of keeping your Instagram followers and readers will never bring you happiness. Your blog will always be there for you. Taking a break doesn’t make you are any less of a blogger. It makes you more of a real person who is acknowledging their feelings and taking care of themselves. Now that’s inspiring.
