I’ve had a craving for smoothies for about the past three months! After learning more about the state of my gut and food sensitivities through in-depth testing, I was determined to find a way to make a good smoothie without fruit. I was frustrated because a lot of the smoothie recipes that I found that said low sugar or sugar-free still had fruit in them! That certainly isn’t helpful if you can’t tolerate fruit and are trying to kick Candida out of your gut!
Sugar-Free Green Smoothie
So after some trial and error, I’ve created a sugar-free delicious and creamy green smoothie recipe that won’t make you cringe sans fruit. This smoothie wouldn’t be possible without my new BFF, the Magic Bullet.
I fill it to the brim with greens and good fats and he whips me up this amazing smoothie every day. If you don’t already have a smoothie maker, I highly suggest this one for a cheap but efficient option. You can shop it from Amazon below.
In an effort eliminate sugar, this smoothie is PACKED with healthy fats to keep you fueled for a long time.
Add a big handful of spinach and kale (I try and fit as much as I can.) Then start adding all of those amazing nourishing fats. I use 1 whole avocado (or a half if it’s a big one.) Add about a TBSP of peanut butter and coconut butter. You can definitely go without a nut butter if choose, I sometimes do too! Add a TBSP of chia seeds and get ready to start pouring in your coconut milk.
I don’t measure how much liquid I put into my smoothie. I simply try and make sure you can see some liquid throughout the whole bullet before pulsing. I also add about 1/4 cup of water for extra hydration in my smoothie.
I’ve been having this for breakfast with a big bowl of eggs, too! There is nothing more satisfying than eating a big creamy smoothie filled with tons of greens and fats in the AM. IMO, this is incredibly more nourishing than most smoothies filled with a bunch of fruits and added sugars, which can be very irritating to the gut if you have any healing to do.
I promise you, it’s creamy and delicious. 🙂
Happy low sugar green smoothie drinking!
